2019-11-14

Program Overview

Master of Electronic and Information Engineering(BIO³ Intelligent Medicine and Biotechnology) is on the frontier of interdisciplinary scientific research covering life sciences, biotechnology, nano-technology, and information technology. Students enrolled in the program are engaged in the study and research in interdisciplinary fields of bio-computing, nanoscience, and artificial intelligence, students will innovatively explore cutting-edge research topics at the intersection of life sciences and electronic information. This approach aims to cultivate innovative awareness and practical capabilities.

As an interdisciplinary and innovative master program, students with backgrounds in Biology, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Medicine, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Electronic Science and Technology, and other related majors are welcomed.

Program Highlights

- Program permits graduates to design their own courses of study with curriculum, internships and projects that span various disciplines.

- Each graduate is required to do two rotations at various international innovation labs, workshops and cooperative platforms.

- Each graduate student will have mentor team composed of different backgrounds to help draw up a personalized curriculum and research project.

Program courses
Major Courses (≥ 16 credits)

  • Fundamental Theory Courses (3 credits): Students without a background in biology or medicine must take "Bootcamp: Fundamental Biology"; students with a relevant background take "Bootcamp: Mathematics, Physics and Scientific Equipment." Both courses are assessed by Assessment.

  • Core Courses (3 credits): Includes "Science and Medicine" (2 credits, Examination), "Introduction to Biophysics" (1 credit, Examination), and "Information and Communication Technology" (2 credits, Examination).

  • Elective Courses (≥ 2 credits): Designated by the supervisor; students may select other courses offered by Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School (SIGS).

  • Rotation Projects (≥ 8 credits): Consists of four rotation experiments, each worth 4 credits, all assessed by Assessment. They are: Biology, Medicine and Informatics Experiments (Rotation 1), Bio-fabrication Lab Experiments (Rotation 2), Nanotechnology for Biodetection Lab (Rotation 3), and Experiments in Medicine and Biology (Rotation 4).

  • Note: Under the guidance of their supervisors, international students may select English-taught courses offered across the School and count them as major courses.

  • Public courses and required components shall follow Tsinghua University's regulations; the courses for each year shall be subject to the enrollment program.
